Yandex Flights

These projects I've done as the only designer in the team both UX and UI.

Yandex Flights was the predecessor of Yandex Travel and come out of the service called Timetables (a service that allowed to see exact schedules of transport like suburban trains, buses, and even water transport). Flights was selling tickets and its logic was different so it couldn’t be implemented within Timetables.

This is how service looked in 2012, when I joined the team

I’ve redesigned it in 2013, focusing on its main part — search

I wanted the search box to be simple and straightforward — from, where, when. Showing popular destinations and a list of partners so it won’t look empty. On the bottom line, city transport infrastructure informational block with the ability to get directions to an airport or to take a taxi.

In 2014 I’ve come up with the design that lasts for four years

I’ve set big pictures for cities below the search box with an ability to see price trend on the destination. I’ve managed the process of picking photos because they all should have aerial bird-eye view. Results are 200+ photos of the most popular cities and much more emotional look of the main page. Thinking of the design as upper part is for those who know where they want to go and the part below is for those who don’t.

Flights search results page

For this part, I’ve decided that we need to create vector logos for air companies, so the page will look consistent. Search results started with recommendations from the whole mass of offers that were picked by price, options, duration of a flight, or time of the day. All important information about a flight is shown without shortening in a human-readable way with tight vertical composition.

Flight itinerary

Right before you choose final offer the service showed full itinerary information.

I’ve also ordered illustrations for the travel’s guide, coming up with ideas and requirements for them. Here is one of them:
